Dyslexia Assessments Across the North West

Specialist Dyslexia Assessments for Children, Young People and Adults Across the North West

BrightPath Assessment and Therapy provides comprehensive dyslexia assessments for children, young people and adults across the North West of England.

Families travel to BrightPath from across Liverpool, Southport, Ormskirk, Preston, Wigan, Chorley, St Helens, Warrington, Greater Manchester and the surrounding areas to gain a clear understanding of how they or their child learns.

Whether you are concerned about reading, spelling, writing, memory or processing, a specialist dyslexia assessment can provide answers, identify strengths as well as areas of difficulty, and offer practical recommendations for the future

A Thorough, Individual Assessment

No two people with dyslexia are the same.

Every assessment at BrightPath is tailored to the individual, recognising that everyone has their own unique combination of strengths, challenges and ways of learning.

Rather than simply deciding whether someone does or does not have dyslexia, the assessment explores why they may be finding learning difficult and identifies the underlying skills that influence literacy development.

This allows recommendations to be personalised and meaningful, helping families, schools, colleges, universities and employers understand how best to provide support.

Why Families Choose BrightPath

BrightPath was founded by Heather Graham, a qualified Speech and Language Therapist with over 14 years of NHS clinical experience.

Throughout her career, Heather has worked with individuals and families experiencing a wide range of communication, language and cognitive difficulties. This experience has provided a deep understanding of how language, memory, processing and cognition interact to influence learning.

Alongside her NHS career, Heather has completed specialist postgraduate training in dyslexia assessment and combines this clinical expertise with personal insight as the parent of a dyslexic child.

This unique combination of professional knowledge and lived experience helps ensure every assessment is both clinically robust and genuinely family-centred.

What Happens During a Dyslexia Assessment?

The assessment begins by understanding the individual and their background before moving on to carefully selected standardised assessments.

These explore areas including reading, spelling, phonological processing, memory, processing speed and other skills that contribute to learning.

Following the assessment, you will receive a detailed written report explaining the findings, highlighting strengths as well as areas of need, and providing practical recommendations for home, education or the workplace.

A feedback appointment is included to discuss the report and answer any questions.

Flexible Assessment Options

BrightPath aims to offer dyslexia assessments in calm, comfortable and appropriate settings local to us.

Our preference is usually to arrange assessments at a suitable local space, where the environment can be planned in advance and kept as quiet and focused as possible.

Depending on individual circumstances, assessments may also be possible at a child’s school, family home or another suitable location by arrangement.

Initial consultations and some follow-up appointments can often be carried out online, providing additional flexibility for families travelling from across the North West.

Please get in touch to discuss the most appropriate option for your circumstances.
