Appointments are usually arranged in carefully selected spaces around Burscough and West Lancashire. Visits to schools, family homes and other suitable locations may also be available by prior arrangement.

Where Dyslexia Assessments Take Place

Dyslexia assessments are usually arranged in carefully selected assessment spaces in the Burscough and West Lancashire area. Each space is chosen to provide a calm, quiet and comfortable environment where a child or young person can feel at ease and work without unnecessary distractions.

As BrightPath uses different local spaces, the exact venue will be confirmed before the appointment. We will provide the address and any relevant arrival, parking or accessibility information in advance.

Travelling to an Assessment

Our local assessment spaces are within reach of families travelling from Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

The Burscough and West Lancashire area can be reached by road from places including Liverpool, Southport, Ormskirk, Preston, Wigan, Chorley, St Helens and Warrington. The suitability of the journey will depend on your starting point and the venue being used for your appointment.

If you contact us before booking, we can explain the available location and help you decide whether travelling to the assessment would be practical for your family.

School, Home and Community Visits

We are also able to offer visits across the North West and Cheshire, depending on availability, travel distance and individual circumstances.

Where appropriate and agreed in advance, an assessment may take place at a child’s school, family home or another suitable location. The proposed setting must offer sufficient privacy, appropriate working space and a quiet environment in which the assessment can be completed reliably.

A visit cannot be guaranteed in every case. We will discuss the child’s needs, the suitability of the proposed setting and travelling requirements before confirming the arrangement.

Assessments at School

A school-based assessment may be considered when this offers a suitable and practical option for the child or young person. The appointment must take place in a private, quiet room where interruptions can be avoided. Arrangements with the school, including permission to attend and use of an appropriate room, must be agreed beforehand.

Online Appointments

Initial consultations can usually be completed online, allowing families to discuss their concerns and ask questions before deciding whether to proceed.

Some feedback and follow-up appointments may also be offered online. The formal diagnostic assessment itself requires carefully controlled conditions and will normally take place in person.

Speech and Language Assessment Locations

Speech and language assessments are generally offered in suitable spaces around Ormskirk, Burscough and the surrounding area.

Depending on the child’s needs and individual circumstances, an assessment may also be considered at their school, family home or another suitable location within a reasonable travelling distance. The proposed setting must provide sufficient privacy and a quiet, appropriate space for the assessment.
