Dyslexia Assessment
Comprehensive Dyslexia Assessment for Children & Young People
Who this is for
This assessment is designed for children and young people who are experiencing ongoing difficulties with reading, spelling, writing, memory, processing speed or learning, and where there are concerns about possible dyslexia.
A full diagnostic assessment can provide clarity, reassurance, and a clear path forward for families and schools.
What the assessment includes
Each dyslexia assessment is comprehensive, individualised, and conducted in line with SASC guidance and best practice. It includes:
Detailed background history and developmental information
Parent and teacher questionnaires
Assessment of literacy skills (reading, spelling, writing)
Assessment of phonological processing, memory and processing skills
Integrated speech and language screening where relevant
Identification of strengths as well as areas of difficulty
The report
You will receive a clear, detailed written report that:
Follows SASC guidance
Explains findings in plain, accessible language
Identifies whether a profile consistent with dyslexia is present
Includes personalised, practical recommendations for home and school
Feedback and support
Unlike many assessments, support does not stop when the report is written.
Your assessment fee includes:
A parent feedback session to talk through the results in detail
The opportunity for a feedback discussion with school (e.g. SENDCo or teacher), where appropriate
This ensures everyone involved understands the findings and knows how best to support your child.
How it works
Initial enquiry and discussion to ensure the assessment is appropriate
Assessment sessions arranged at a time that suits your family
Analysis and report writing
Feedback session(s) to explain results and answer questions
Payment is arranged after the assessment process, not at the point of enquiry.
Assessment Locations
BrightPath aims to offer dyslexia assessments in carefully selected assessment spaces in the Burscough and West Lancashire area. These quiet, comfortable environments are chosen to provide the best possible setting for individuals to feel relaxed and perform at their best during the assessment.
Depending on individual circumstances, assessments can also be arranged at a child’s school, family home or another suitable location where this is appropriate, across the northwest. Initial consultations and some follow-up appointments can also be carried out online.
Families travel to BrightPath from across the North West for specialist dyslexia assessments. If you’re unsure whether we cover your area, please get in touch—we’ll be happy to discuss the most suitable assessment option for you.
